The Economic Affairs Department is the centre for research and policy advocacy on global and domestic economic matters that affect the Zimbabwe’s mining industry and the Chamber members. The department works closely with the Economic Affairs Committee which apprises the department’s activities.

Policy review and advocacy

The economics department, in consultation and co-operation with members, provides technical input into national policy formulation on matters that include:

  • Fiscal
  • Monetary and foreign exchange
  • Electricity and Energy
  • Labour matters
  • Investment
  • Indigenisation and economic empowerment
  • Beneficiation, local content and value chain

The Economics department also advises the government and other stakeholders on the sector’s reactions and posture on policy matters.

Research and information dissemination

The Economics department publishes analytical economic reviews to inform members and stakeholders on global and domestic economic developments and outlook. The Department also compiles, collates and analyses data, including prices and production, on behalf of the industry.
